This month I have been blessed many times.
So I am very thankful because I have been given this opportunity to reach kids and make art all day. Which has been my dream for a long time. When I prayed I always asked for an opportunity to serve god with my talents but also to serve others and I had no idea how to do it, but I figure I'd leave it with him and he would figure it out. So many times I've been worried about providing for myself and still keep with my creative goals after school and now I have everything I've asked for. Now all there is left to do is make my teaching career full time. But I am sure there is a plan. I am excited to see what is next.
These are my kids making Turkeys I love making keepsakes with them, my mom still has most of the ones I made when I was little. I like that now they have some of there own. My mom still gets all the examples I use to show my kids what to do. :)

Kid art is pretty Boosie. Here is some awesome art courtesy of my 4th graders. They did the best, tomorrow they get a special project.
My 3's and 4's were hilarious I didn't get a shot of there creations but I know now that "sprinkles" (glitter) is like solid gold to them :)

I have so many people to be thankful for,
and i never let them know about it.
I love my parents and how supportive of me they are.
My friends in Sarasota and especially in Springhill (Luna and Lisha).
My family including my three lovely cousins Toni, LuAnn Maria and lil Anthony.
My brother who's teef hurt him but he is still hilarious.
Last but certainly not least my Fiance JP who i love very much.

The Sun and the Moon

I couldn't wait to scan these for you all, so i took some sneak peek photos with my honey's iphone.

The Sun and Moon is quite large at 11x15 in water color and ink

I have alot of dreams, they don't really resemble the pictures i paint but they are similar in essence i believe.

the floating "spirits" represent the soul, and the ladies in the middle represent the different parts of the "self".

I feel like i live two lives, by day a normal life finishing college and job hunting. At night i feel like i am a part of the inertia that is everything, its soothing and helps me to see a bigger picture when i get to stressed with one situation or another.

Anyway i am having alot of fun because epic whimsy ladies of fantasy fiction is what i do, and do well. All where done with simple ink and watercolor - like a gangster.

Some progress on the picture you saw before, click on it to make it BIG.

This piece is done in ink first quite small in a sketchbook. I then take the sketch into the scanners at school, scany scan and pull it into photoshop accordingly. As for color decisions and the like, that is a more rigorous process, the inspiration from this piece coming from old wine posters of the 1920's.

Is what i am to this blog. QUITE SORRY I understand that you like it when i am all describey, SO the first black and white sketch is for my illustration that i am doing for a book cover. The book is called Shampoo Planet by Douglas Coupland... great book. .. The two painted ladies are from my brain in my sketch book. The quote " We didn't want to bother him, so we just whispered into his house" is from a comedian actually... it turned out to be a beautiful notion...he was describing church saying that "sometimes we went to gods house but we didn't want to bother him so we just whispered things into his house. We all whisper things into his house when we are at church - there called prayers.

The cupcake looking lady has no esoteric meaning .

Here is my billboard assignment, i figured i'd design some hoodies for Volcom which i'd like to work for one fine day. The background is a water color wash which i then scanned in and put into the back ground. The rest i drew by hand, and colored digitally. its 30x12. This project turned into a bit of a collaboration, which i didn't expect - but J.P. apparently wields formidable photoshop skills as well as a decidedly good grasp of color.... delightful ! There are two options of background, i think the grey is more appropriate but i can't be sure, i get mixed signals from peers and my teacher (Mr. Crucible) .... anyway there will be no complaining trying to MAKE the crucible HAPPY.

Academy "flat project"

So i am sorry for the infrequency of my posts. Here is the process and finish for the Flat Project. Decided to do it in cut paper which is - tedious. This project was a lesson in alot of things, structure and local color, composition and value.

I did i similar project at the beginning of this school year, but my teacher forced in digital before alot of the students had even learned the program - so it obviously tanked. Anyway this was a very intelligent process. loving it.

Academy life is really an experience, and its busy and relentless with its sometimes 15 hour days, but in between rigorous studio time there are demos, the first being from Jon Foster. We have various over views as well on composition and color - The program is for professionals and students alike. It is a major insight to the field as well. In participating in just these few days i can tell that Illustration is what i am meant to do.
